About Nafeessa S.
I’ve worked my current job of Food Manager (of a small Catholic school) for over 6 years now. As much as I enjoy my co-workers and working with the kids (K-8), I know it’s time for me to transition into a career.I’ve never been much of a ‘9 to 5’ person. I miss working various shifts & various hours (esp. overnight). I also like to learn new skills & about new things. This is why I’m interested in a hospital career. It’s usually a fast-paced environment (which I’m used to), the hours can vary, and there are many opportunities to advance into many career options.I currently manage the breakfast, lunch, after-school snacks, and fresh fruit snacks for the kids (current number 175). I also do the ordering and the paperwork associated with it all (for state reimbursement and such). I also keep things clean and cook the food. I also keep up with the certifications and training associated with the job – some of it optional.I use the word " I " because I do all of this by myself. I get some physical help at lunchtime, but that’s it. And I’ve never called out sick. That’s because I’m passionate about what I do and try to execute to the best of my ability.Did I mention I’m the “de-facto” office and software equipment manager? Yep, I do that, too. I also function as an ‘Assistant Secretary’ when necessary, & during the summer.Part of my drive comes from my Mom & Dad growing up. They always worked hard and tried to do better, so it’s a trait that ended up rubbing off on me. I also tend to be an eternal, but practical, optimist. And I never give up. Besides always having a tendency to have ‘Plans B, C, D, and E’ in mind before any given situation, when I’m hit with unforeseen obstacles I always think “What’s the next step? What can I do from here?”So even though I’m only a bit spiritual and not at all religious, I approach life with these 2 concepts:
