I am a chartered professional engineer (RPEQ electrical) with over fourteen years’ experience working on projects relating to high voltage power networks and power distribution. I started my career as an electronics engineer, designing and testing overhead protection relays. With background knowledge of protection relays, protection systems and automation, I transferred into an electrical engineering role, designing, testing and overseeing the construction of switchboards for oil and gas projects. To further my understanding of the application of this power equipment, I transferred companies to work as an electrical field engineer, commissioning and performing maintenance on high voltage assets. This eventuated into a role as project/technical lead, implementing the long-term service agreement of planned and corrective maintenance on the high voltage assets, on one of Queensland’s largest private electrical networks. This has provided many opportunities for me to grow technically, through improving and implementing the maintenance strategy, and professionally, as the client interface and leader of technical personnel. I then moved to a Brisbane based maintenance engineering role, and then to team leader, at Santos providing technical support for unplanned events and the execution of planned maintenance across power distribution assets (132kV to 400V), power generation, electric driven plant (DOL and VSD), and secondary systems.
