About Nahed Mansour

Nahed Mansour has worked in Toronto's arts sector for over fifteen years, establishing a strong record of inclusive, interactive, and socially aware programs that push traditional boundaries of community-engagement, arts education, and artistic practice. Nahed currently works as Visual Arts Officer at the Ontario Arts Council. Previous to this role she held the position of Senior Manager, Gallery Engagement in the Learning & Public Programs department at ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). Prior to this role, Nahed worked at the Gardiner Museum where she held the role of Curator of Programs and Education and served as an active member of the museum's Senior Manager team. In that role, Nahed led the museum's free and accessible community programs, including Community Arts Space and the museum's 2021 summer initiative, Gardiner Goes Outside. Nahed has also worked at at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA-Toronto) as Constituent Curator: Communities and Engagement, where she designed and developed socially-engaged, family-friendly, and education based projects in the museum's Art In Use space. Prior to working in museums, Nahed worked as Artistic Director at the South Asian Visual Art Centre and Director at Mayworks Festival Toronto. She has maintained an independent curatorial practice, programming work by visual, media, and community-based artists whose work respond to contemporary social, political, economic, and environmental issues from racialized and gendered perspectives. Her own multi-disciplinary research-based arts practice draws from archival images, found footage, and material-culture to investigate notions of race and power through dance. She holds an MFA in Open Media from Concordia University and a BA joint Honours in Semiotics and Visual Studies from the University of Toronto.
