During my time at The Searle Company, I served as a Project Trainee under the guidance of the Head of Engineering, Projects & EHS. This role involved the renovation of the central HVAC system for the Non-Sterile Area, a project I also leveraged as my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering Final Year Project. The project included the installation of various equipment, such as absorption chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, dehumidifiers, dust collectors, and pumps.My responsibilities encompassed: Reviewing and validating consultant calculations for both air and water systems. Producing equipment selection reports. Preparing an ROI analysis for system comparison. Overseeing commissioning, water and air balancing, and delivering the Final Year Project presentation to the engineering department.As part of the Final Year Project, I: Calculated static and dynamic head for the piping system to determine pump power requirements. Calculated the cooling load for the liquid area. Conducted air side calculations based on thermal loads. Designed ducting prototypes and evaluated external pressure losses. Assisted in blower selection based on static loss. Conducted water side calculations for AHU selection.

Worked as an Intern in engineering department of Aspin Pharmaceuticals, previously Johnson & Johnson Pakistan. During my tenure I was reported to Senior Manager Engineering and got the basic understanding of (operation, maintenance and compliance of) pharmaceutical clean black utilities. This exposure provided knowledge of drug manufacturing process and basic understanding of cGMP and GXP guidelines (Particularly WHO, PICs, ISPE and ICH) related to utilities, facilities & production practices.

During my internship, I acquired fundamental knowledge in HVAC and Mechanical Design, applying principles from Mechanical Engineering courses including Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning. I also studied ASHRAE and SMACNA guidelines, which have proven invaluable in subsequent roles. This knowledge has enabled me to proficiently perform calculations for duct and pipe sizing, as well as the assessment of static and dynamic head and losses in piping networks. I have applied these skills effectively in the selection of chilled water and cooling water pumps
