I am currently a generalist adviser with H&F CAB.Previously, I was a property analyst for over twenty five years, prior to then I practised as a chartered surveyor, and I have a degree in Structural Engineering. My approach was to focus on the prospects for the underlying properties as well as considering the company’s finances and relative strengths and weaknesses of the management.During my career I have focused on UK property companies of all sizes. At Arbuthnot, I followed 16 companies, ranging in market cap. from Land Securities to Safeland. My highest Extel rating was 2 when I was at James Capel. It was 5 at Charterhouse. In 2007, I won the Starmine awards for accuracy in respect of recommendations and forecasts as regards Real Estate. In 2009, I won an award from Share magazine. In 2010, I was rated the second most accurate analyst in the sector in respect of forecasts.Notable achievements include assisting TBI, pioneering a Sterns Stewart approach to the valuation of property companies and assisting in the flotation of Capital & Counties while at James Capel. In respect of TBI, we acted as brokers to the company at Charterhouse during the period that they moved from being a property company to an owner of airports, I have also run a number of successful conferences. Approximately 100 people attended the last one in 2009; speakers included the CEO’s of Land Securities, Great Portland and Hammerson.
