In my second year as an AmeriCorps member with City Year Chicago, I worked on the recruitment team and represented City Year Chicago at various recruiting events, planned open house events and talked to interested individuals about the City Year model. I also worked on the Civic Recruitment team planning physical service events at various schools and community centers.

We were placed in teams to work at various schools and my team was at Manley Career Academy High School. Besides being a tutor and mentor, I also was the Events and Outreach Coordinator of my team. During these six weeks, I designed detailed interactive lesson plans incorporating strategies of differentiating for students, taught two 8th grade math classes and two elective courses to 50 students and mentored students and incorporated different learning styles in the classrooms.
