About Nana Sarpong

Business? Science? Both! My passion lies at the intersection of business and science aimed at transforming systems through innovation and strategic development. I double majored in Applied Economics and Management and Biological Sciences at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. My well-rounded experiences have allowed me to hone these key transferrable skills:Excellent Interpersonal Skills: As the Chief Executive Officer of Scholars in Our Society and Africa Inc., I use my influence and harness my unique position to drive organizational results. I am able to integrate distinct organizational parts by inspiring and empowering members which resulted in a successful 2016 book donation project of 30,000 books to three underprivileged school communities in Ghana. Team Building Skills: As an active long term leader of the Cornell Intramural Soccer Team and the North Bronx Youth Choir, I have hands-on experience being a part of a team to deliver results on a consistent weekly basis. As a volunteer for Feed My Starving Children, I worked as part of a team to pack boxes of MannaPackTM meals to feed 99 children around the world for a full year.Diversity skills: Being born in Norway, raised in Ghana and maturing in the Bronx, life blessed me with invaluable experiences that have shaped my perspective on the world. I have continued to challenge myself to break popular preconceived notions which result from differences such as age, gender and religious beliefs, most notably writing a five-page poem on radical queer women for my ‘Writing and Sexual Politics: Introduction to Female Madness’ class.Communication Skills: I have grown as a verbal, non-verbal and written communicator in my stints as PublIcity Coordinator for SOSA Nonprofit organization and the African Development Association. My interests lie in making this world a better place.
