302Nd Brigade Support Battalion, 2Nd Infantry Division

As the Battalion Communications Officer, I was responsible for a wide range of communications supporting supply, maintenance, medical, chemical, and headquarters companies. Due to the companies' diverse missions and the "Fight Tonight" focus of units located close to the demilitarized zone, varied means of communication were required to execute the mission and maintain readiness. I led a small team that ensured that these needs were met for the Battalion, including but not limited to: tactical internet, strategic internet, Blue Force Tracker (BFT), tactical radio (software defined radio, VHF, UHF, and encrypted), telephones, network compliance, net worthiness, etc. Two events of note:- We executed refit operations for all BFT and tactical radio systems in the Battalion.- We moved the whole Battalion (people, supply stock, motor pool, medical services, etc…) to the field (tactical environment), executed Battalion operations from the field, and moved the Battalion back to the garrison environment (home) for the month of February. We succeeded in bringing up all tactical communications necessary for the Battalion to conduct its mission.
