Co-Creative Director
“We might just have launched something extraordinary, that can persist and change lives/careers. We are all proud of the work Nanci did in helping shape an important experiment in arts and culture on Nantucket (and maybe beyond). I’m grateful, as I know all the artists are, for her effort in the Colony’s launch and I look forward to seeing what her talents generate on the west coast." -John S. Johnson, III, Co-Founder of Buzzfeed, Almanack Arts Colony, Screenwriters Colony, Eyebeam, & Harmony InstituteCo-conceived a non-profit Songwriters Colony in collaboration with the Almanack Arts Colony Nantucket, on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Our mission is to foster collaborations between both emerging and established songwriters who wouldn't ordinarily find themselves in the same room together. We would invite four or five songwriters to live and work on Nantucket and several “mentors” who come in for a week each. Though I moved back to Los Angeles, this program continues to thrive and grow. Invited artists include Courtney Marie Andrews, Bill Reynolds (Band of Horses,) Eric Pulido (Midlake,) Pearl Charles, Jade Castrinos (Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros,) John Alagia (Producer,) Rob Kleiner (Producer,) Jason Agel (Producer,) Hamilton Leithauser (The Walkmen,) Nick Stumph (French Kicks,) Lola Kirke, Chris Stills, Kelly Zutrau (Wet,) Mark Stoney, Tom Peyton, Austin Jenkins Joe Haller (Cheerleader,) & Amber Coffman.

Executive Director
After conducting a national search process led by the board of directors, I was selected to be the Executive Director of a Schmidt Family Foundation non-profit community music center based on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. With less than a month's notice, I moved from West Hollywood, California, at the height of the summer season 30-miles out to sea, to cut the ribbon on the new music school. Worked closely with the board of directors to sustain and grow existing funding while also establishing new relationships and partnerships with prospective donors. Chose and set up new fundraising software, built a robust donor contact base, created email fundraising materials & events grew our donor base and donations by 100% in just one year. Was the sole full time employee and in charge of every aspect of running the day-to-day operation of a year round non-profit music school & recording studio. I personally opened the door at 8am and greeted the students as they filed in for their music classes and closed the door at 9pm. Forged new partnerships with other non-profits, local musicians, and with the high school, where I started a "Rap Recording Class" personally working with those students teaching them how to choose song and record an album from start to finish. A wonderful adventure that lead me to co-founding another non-profit more in line with my music industry background, a songwriter's camp that brought established songwriters from the music industry to live and work with one another for one month on Nantucket Island.
