Educational Assistant
Current• Work effectively with a team of 15 diverse teachers, and mentored 8 EA practicum students, to create and implement personalized education programs and learning experiences for students with special needs, mental disabilities and/or limitations.• Continuously assess, evaluate, report and record students' progress and behaviours while facilitating and promoting highly valued inclusion. • Attain positive results by fostering independence and creating situations to experience a new algorhythm or behavioural path in a safe manner. • Remain alert to detect and report nuances/patterns/concepts that impact students and the physical environment; highly skilled to ensure programs run smoothly.• Utilize analytical methods and techniques to assess the nature and behaviour of the students and propose an appropriate intervention.• Well known to bring order to chaos by creating a supportive environment; especially when students are overcoming emotional barriers and/or multi-sensory needs.• Recognized for instilling confidence and building rapport with students who have learning disabilities to break down defense walls and positively impact progress.• Adapt and/or modify instantly and respond with techniques or strategies necessary to carry out the expectation. • Advocate for the rights and the conditions of success for students.• Establish trusting partnerships through exceptional relationship building, utilizing positive affirmations and interpersonal abilities.• Play major advisory role while working with physiotherapists, speech and language pathologists, nurses, occupational therapists, and vision/hearing specialists.
