Teaching has been my passion most of my life, so with great joy I went back to school in 2006 to earn my Bachelor's in Elementary Education with an dual major in Special Education. Once the degree was completed in 2009, I began teaching at inner-city schools in downtown Phoenix. It was quite fascinating working with diverse population groups, because their academic needs were extensive - an ideal growing experience as a teacher! While continuing to teach full-time, I pursued my Master's in Special Education, with the intention to become more qualified to work with even the most challenging groups of children. Once the Master's was completed in 2014, another dream was fulfilled - teaching children with autism (K-8th). Every day required great skill in patience, consistency, and astuteness in order to keep behaviors to an minimum. Most recently, I taught preschool children with autism and/or developmental delays. It was so rewarding watching these young people become adjusted to the school routines and seeing their measurable progress!Before become a certified teacher, I saw my role as a bus driver for 8 years just as important for shaping "my students" to be goal-oriented and responsible young people. Prior to my experiences specifically working with children, I worked in various retail stores. I have recognized that I have always been a teacher at heart, because even in the retail business, it is about educating others and having a desire to serve others with knowledge and kindness.
