I’m a long time academic, turned full time consultant in 2000, coinciding with the publication of Common Knowledge, (HBSP) one of the seminal books on knowledge management. I’m a runner, a committed yoga practitioner, a mother of two and a grandmother of three. I have the great privilege of living in one of the most exciting cities in the US, Austin Texas. What I care deeply about is that the people who work in any organization have a voice to influence what their organization does and what it stands for. My aspiration is to help make organizations worthy of organizational members putting their life’s blood into their work, because all of us have a desire to have our labor serve something that we view as worthy. I believe that happens when organizations learn how to hold meaningful conversations among their employees– I call it “collective sensemaking.” I’m the founder of Common Knowledge Associates, a management consulting firm that helps organizations hold conversations where knowledge is created, and where innovation arises. Before founding Common Knowledge Associates in 2000, I was a Professor at the George Washington University for 15 years, and before that at the University of Texas, in Austin. I hold a Ph.D. in Administration with a minor in Sociology.My capabilities include:- Designing state-of-the art convening - Coaching virtual teams to be as effective as co-located teams- Conducting research on organization learning and virtual teams - Engaging diverse stakeholders to find common ground. - A skilled facilitator of large group meetings- Delivering interactive workshops to teach KM processes- Designing knowledge transfer systems- Finding new ways of organizing I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients across the globe, including USAID, The World Health Organization, The Defense Intelligence Agency, The US Army, NASA, and The Veterans Administration, as well as Corporate Clients, Conoco Phillips, Huawei Technology Inc., The National Railroad of the Netherlands, Deloitte, Bose, and Ecopetrol, and many more. I’ve written eight books as well as over 50 articles that focus on how organizations learn.
