I edited and proofread middle-school health and science textbooks and ancillary materials for content and style from manuscript through multiple printings. I also verified content online or by contact with experts. I was promoted to this position from Project Editor, the title I had from December 2003 through September 2004.

I copyedited scholarly and trade books on topics ranging from graphic arts and self-help to astronomy, biomechanics, Nigerian political history, and the influence of culture on business practices in China.

I copyedited and proofread books in diverse disciplines using various published and client-created style manuals for a book production company. I also assisted in the management of projects from completed manuscript through shipment of files to printer by reviewing freelancers’ work, communicating extensively with authors and clients, and preparing files for the printer.

I copyedited all phases of editorial content in the magazine as well as marketing and online materials. I also checked copy and design for adherence to established styles and helped to formulate and refine a custom style, queried project editors about unclear or suspect information, checked facts online, and archived issue files and materials.
