Represented the Suffolk County Executive and the Office of Women's Services in coalitions, on task forces, and at public events. Gave peer counseling and referrals to helpline callers. Spearheaded an entrepreneurship conference for teen girls, an essay contest for middle- and high-school students, and similar events. Publicized events and issues. Established protocol and maintained data for County Executive's domestic-violence statistics-gathering initiatives, which earned an award from a national organization of municipal departmen. Conducted research and shared results, within the department and across departmental lines as well as with client organizations. Created resource guides for women, teen girls, and minority-owned businesses, Created well-regarded newsletter, "Between Us Women," that circulated to 1,000+ contacts. Created and maintained numerous segmented contacts lists (agency directors, opinion leaders, etc.). Invented low-cost, high-versatility display kiosk.

Made individual and group presentations to market appropriate investment, retirement, life insurance and long-term care insurance products to qualified individuals. Solicited prospective clients vis participation in trade shows, networking, canvassing and direct mail. Held a NY State Life and Health license and a Series 6.

Substituted for vacationing editors (assigned, edited, placed, and laid out stories for each issue; wrote the weekly editorial; assigned sports articles and photos, etc.).Wrote features articles and theater reviews as assigned.

Entire responsibility for news content of Suffolk County News and Islip Bulletin, two paid weekly local newspapers (circ. 11,000) focused on affluent individual subscribers. Assigned, wrote, edited, and took pictures for news, sports, and feature articles. Wrote editorials. Laid out newspapers and oversaw production. Represented the newspaper at community meetings. Through telephone and in-person meetings with area political leaders, was directly instrumental in Suffolk County's 2002 acquisition of Sagtikos Manor, a Bay Shore historical landmark associated with George Washington. In addition, because of my deep knowledge of this landmark, I was able to develop and pursue two "scoops" (exclusive news stories) regarding this issue.

Total responsibility for writing and tracking projects including a series of 200 "top-line" fact sheets for use by national advertising sales staff. Conceived, wrote, and scheduled completion of a full range of advertising and circulation sales and marketing materials, and met and counseled sales representatives to discuss their strategic use to increase sales. Created and wrote a monthly newsletter that circulated to 7,000 national advertisers.

Wrote print, collateral, and broadcast material for such clients as Estee Lauder, Novartis, Tiffany, Xerox, BASF, Lenox Hill Hospital, MetLife and others.

Company was founded as Milkweed Chronicle, a literary magazine. I placed the publication in area bookstores, sent review copies to other publications, and handled some publicity. Partly responsible for Milkweed Chronicle receiving a grant from the Jerome Foundation.

Assigned, wrote, and edited news and feature articles pertaining to unpaid circulation area of 40,000 in affluent neighborhood of St. Paul, Minnesota. Gave assignments to photographers. Assisted in layout and story meetings. Proofread final copy.
