Working as a Canadian Certified Pedorthist I perform Pedorthic consultations/assessments. These include taking a patient history, performing physical/biomechanical examination of the feet and lower legs and a gait evaluation. I will also explain assessment findings and subsequent recommendations for foot orthotics (custom or off-the-shelf), other medical devices, footwear and/or other health services (e.g. foot care, physiotherapy, etc.). I use various methods to cast for custom foot orthotics and design the device for each patient. I also provide follow up appointments should their be issues or concerns with the device. In this role I also regularly communicate with patients' primary health care providers.

As the Clinic Manager I am responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and billing tasks (such as sending out invoicing to third party payers and bank/credit card reconciliations). I am also responsible to preparing payroll, preparing and filing HST and preparing and filing annual tax slips (such as T4s) for all three locations of The Disc Clinic. In addition, I also perform regular administrative duties, such as booking patient appointments for multiple clinicians at multiple locations, answering phone call and emails. In this role I have also developed training documents for new administrative staff , to be used at all locations, and have been responsible to training of new administrative staff. I have also been involved in the hiring process for new administrative staff.

In my position as a Canadian Certified Pedorthist my main role was to perform Pedorthic consultations/assessments. In this role I was available to fit patients for off-the-shelf footwear, as well as fitting/measuring patients for compression stockings.

I would also explain my assessment findings and subsequent recommendations for foot orthotics (custom or off-the-shelf), other medical devices, footwear and/or other health services (e.g. foot care, physiotherapy, etc.). I use various methods to cast for custom foot orthotics and designed the custom device for each patient. I also provided follow up appointments should their be issues or concerns with the device. In this role I regularly communicated with patients' primary health care providers via assessment and/or follow up reports. In this position I also recommended and fit patients with footwear.

As a Kinesiologist I worked closely with other health care providers; primarily Physiotherapists. I assisted the managing therapists with any treatment tasks as needed. I often instructed and monitored patient's general and injury specific exercise programs. In my role I also aided in the coordination of Workers' Compensation Board work conditioning programs and collaborated with managing clinicians in return to work planning. Administrative tasks, such as contacting employers, case managers and sales representatives were required in this position. In my role as Kinesiologist I was trained in fitting of off-the-shelf and custom bracing. During my time as a Kinesiologist I was trained on proper shoe fitting, and was able to provide footwear recommendations and fittings. From 2006 through 2008, as I was completing my Pedorthic apprenticeship I performed supervised Pedorthic assessments. I also was responsible for maintaining footwear inventory. This task included meeting with sales representatives and ordering.
