About my work with Maureen's Haven, a retreat for the Homeless: hundreds of volunteers from 31 houses of worship and civic organizations across the north and south forks of LI, who make this program work, represent to me the backbone of the beautiful community we call the East End. I find working to fund raise and support their efforts , and working to help our homeless guests, satisfying because of the particular program model we use. Working at our new Lincoln Street office in Riverhead allows me to meet our guests and see first hand the work teachng volunteers do with our homeless clients/guests there in our new Learning Center, as a group and individually.
