A specialist in sustainable water resources management and impact assessment, with experience across the public & private sectors and international non-governmental organisations. I lead and manage projects driven by protection and improvement of the freshwater environment - rivers, lakes, groundwater and wetlands - and the natural world and wildlife that these habitats support. As a water resources specialist & keen conservationist I have particular focus on assessing sustainable water abstraction for public supply to reduce impacts on river flows, in the face of climate change and rising population demands. I promote nature-based solutions and more holistic catchment measures to build habitat resilience and help nature recover, whilst balancing the needs of people. Significant experience of working collaboratively with other scientists, government regulators, water companies, regional planning groups, developers and local catchment stakeholders.I've worked in developing countries including WaterAid in Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia, and volunteered as project advisor in water to Just a Drop since 2017, supporting water and sanitation projects in Cambodia, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Nicaragua and India. Projects are mostly focused on rural water supply in water-scarce areas, with additional elements including catchment measures and agricultural techniques to improve soil and water conservation, the promotion of tree planting and drought tolerant crops. Critical to the success of projects is the inclusion of community stakeholders at all stages, especially strengthening the voices of marginalised women and girls.
