It's incredibly rewarding to have so many online opportunities to teach wonderful kids and adults all over the world! I'm thrilled to have so many edtech strategies at my fingertips and to be able to design my own courses and educational games. I love adventure and my background shows it. My experience includes being an online teacher/tutor and curriculum developer, a public-school teacher, international corporate marketing manager, entrepreneur, salesperson, and investor. As a public-school and online teacher (including curriculum development) for a combined eleven years, I’m known for creating games and activities that enhance comprehension and enjoyment of learning. I create interesting ways to teach math, science, reading, history, social studies, geography, life skills, and English as a Second Language (ESL). I teach advanced ESL students how to watch and listen to American movies to learn and understand the conversational language commonly used by Americans as university students, at work, and in social settings.As an international corporate manager for sixteen years, I led highly successful teams in sales forecasting, business planning, and marketing. The company chose me to lead a new-product marketing team in the UK. I lived and worked in the London area for a year.As an entrepreneur, I created, manufactured, marketed, and sold a card game called “UR2Me” about appreciating the people in our lives and appreciating ourselves! I have used the games in my teaching. Many of the games that were manufactured were used by schools in North Carolina. I’ve created a digital version that I use in my online teaching.Because of my product marketing and business planning background, I was chosen to teach a seminar at a large conference on creating a “business plan vision board” as preparation for writing the actual business plan. I received one of the highest approval ratings at the conference. For my online teaching curriculum, I've adapted that idea to an age-appropriate format, and I offer lessons on creating a business plan vision board.Investing has been an interest of mine since 2003 when I took courses (Achievement Choice Quest, by Gary Williams) over a three-year stretch, learning technical analysis (charting stocks). Of course, no one knows for sure what direction the stock market or individual stocks will take, but I have learned to recognize important signals for buying and selling. I have developed a technical analysis course for kids aged 13-18.
