About Nancy Alhaddad, Phd

An experienced Organic and Synthesis Chemist with expertise in Supramolecular and Macromolecular Chemistry as well as Radiochemistry. I have six years of experience in the field, focused on the synthesis and characterization of organic compounds, specifically supramolecular, macrocyclic, and heteroaromatic compounds.In addition to my work in Organic Synthesis, I have also gained experience in Coordination Chemistry and Radiochemistry, specifically as applied to medicinal chemistry and environmental remediation. My current research is based on a theranostic approach, using F-18 radiolabeled heteroaromatic compounds as potential PET imaging agents.As a scientist, I am eager to apply my expertise in the research and development industry to build a brighter, healthier, and safer future. I am also highly skilled in interpersonal communication, organizational skills, budgeting, team coordination, and project and resource management.     Conducting research on the synthesis of fluorinated radiopharmaceuticals known as PET imaging agents. My role covers the synthesis of these agents, their purification, characterization and the optimization of the radiosynthesis, manual synthesis to automation (using robotic platforms). During this process, I cover with my fellow colleagues all aspects of prodution and characterization until radiopharmaceutical is ready for pre-clincal/clinical trials.

    The objective of my project, entitled "Synthesis of new complexing entities based on calix[4]pyrrole for the decontamination of natural radionuclides in aquatic media" was to reinforce scientific knowledge on the trapping of Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radionuclides. These latter, the result of releases from the oil, mining or geothermal industries, can be found at abnormally high levels in soils and aquatic environments leading to an emerging health risk in several parts of the world.In order to face this concern, the implementation of decontamination processes through selective extractants is a key issue. In this context, the aim of this project was the synthesis and characterization of new calix[4]pyrrole supramolecular architectures capable of extracting radionuclides in a reliable and selective manner. These "cages molecules" can eventually be fixed on polymeric supports leading to a decontamination process or protection of aquatic environments.

    The study was conducted in the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, governed by a highly variablesemi-arid climate. The interest for hydrologic studies in this region is derived from the climatechange this area is experiencing, and the need to understand how it is affecting its hydrologicalregimes. These studies are in most cases carried out through the use of hydrologic models. In this project, we focused on the Peristerona watershed, considered representative of northern Troodos mountains. Based on available data of rainfall and runoff and the characteristics of the watershed, the simulation of the flow at the outlet of the watershed and the contribution of the groundwater to the flow was done using three hydrologic models:(1) GR4J (Génie Rurale a quatre paramètres journaliers)(2) GR6J (Génie Rurale a six paramètres journaliers)(3) PART (base-flow separation routine)
