I'm an entrepreneur, former intrapreneur, trainer, speaker, advisor and mentor helping mission-driven organizations and socially-conscious businesses achieve their next big initiative to rapidly expand their impact. I founded CSR Communications to help organizations move beyond grand gestures and bold statements, to organizational change that sticks. I've spent my career career saying what others are afraid to – and learning to say it in ways that others will listen. From challenging stereotypes of girls in my Catholic school more than 30 years ago, to my first job after college convincing nonprofits to engage youth volunteers, or my role as board chair of a global nonprofit transforming the way we do international development, I've experienced the challenges of leading big change within established organizations. I've learned lots of lessons, developed techniques that work -- and I'm willing to share them with others. I've has worked with global nonprofits, foundations, Fortune 100 companies, local governments, and federal agencies. I created the Intrapreneurs Influence Lab to provide internal change leaders the skills, support and insight they need to realize their vision with less isolation, frustration and resistance.

Through strategic communication, resource development, organizational development and multi-cultural engagement services, helped social purpose organizations, including socially responsible businesses, build a just and sustainable world. Member of the Public Health team. Clients included American Public Health Association, DC Public Library, Andrus, Vital Healthcare Capital, The Opportunity Agenda, Plan USA and DC Housing Authority.

Led the organization’s largest initiative, Scaling What Works, a privately-funded effort to support the federal government’s Social Innovation Fund and scale impact of high-performing nonprofit organizations. Serve on the senior leadership team; managed special initiatives, marketing & communications, publications, conferences and membership.

Led the organization's new initiative, Scaling What Works. Scaling What Works was a multi-year project to expand the number of grantmakers and public sector funders across the country that are prepared to support the evidence base, capacity and growth of promising nonprofits.

Served as member of the senior leadership team responsible for international and civic engagement grantmaking; loaned as part-time executive, fundraiser and media spokesperson to PlayPumps International, a global nonprofit providing clean drinking water to sub-Saharan Africa.

Led the corporate responsibility practice, working with a global team. Worked with foundation, nonprofit and corporate clients in strategy development, program management and implementation, and communications. Responsible for client service, new business development, staff development and financial management of accounts. Primary clients included UPS, Target, Johnson Controls, Freddie Mac and W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

Managed a portfolio of 47 grants totaling over $15 million to state education agencies, state commissions on national service and national nonprofit organizations. Spoke at state and national conferences on service-learning. Initiated and managed a partnership with the U.S. Department of Education.

Provided legislative updates to NYLC members; delivered policy training to advocates across the country. Researched and published the first comprehensive, nationwide study of state service-learning/youth service policies.

Developed and managed Franklin County’s (OH) first youth volunteerism program.
