Nancy Atkinson is an author and journalist with a passion for telling the stories of people involved in space exploration and astronomy. Her latest book, "Eight Years to the Moon: The History of the Apollo Missions" (July 2019) celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission with little known stories from the engineers and scientists who worked behind the scenes to make the first Moon landing possible. Nancy's first book, "Incredible Stories From Space: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Missions Changing Our View of the Cosmos" (December 2016) shares compelling insights from over 35 NASA scientists and engineers, taking readers inside nine current robotic missions that are transforming our understanding of the solar system and beyond.Nancy has written thousands of articles, writing daily since 2004 about the latest news about space. She currently contributes to Universe Today and Ad Astra; previously she was Universe Today's Senior Editor, editor in chief for Space Lifestyle Magazine and also has articles published on Seeker.com, Wired.com, Space.com, NASA's Astrobiology Magazine, Space Times magazine, and several newspapers in the Midwest. She has been involved with several space-related podcasts, including Astronomy Cast, 365 Days of Astronomy and was the host of the NASA Lunar Science Institute podcast.
