I love challenges. Large or small. Messy or not. Nothing gets me out of bed faster than my latest challenge. I look at it from different angles to understand its nature. Then, I plan how best to attack it, beat it into submission, and deliver an exceptional solution.This is more than a method; it’s how I live my life. When I ran marathons, I didn’t look at the race in its entirety. That was overwhelming. I needed perspective and context. I had to learn the route, check the weather and plan when and what I would eat. Then I devised my strategy for each mile, including contingency plans. My strategy had to be flexible, since conditions always changed - be it the weather or a muscle cramp. And, while I wasn’t the fastest runner, I was confident that I would always finish the race smiling.Business is the same. Goals change, just as business needs do. Core foundations persist. My ability to break overwhelming challenges into achievable pieces enables me to successfully tackle and manage large projects, whether application development, writing, editing or leading a team. I do more than identify and resolve issues. I strive to anticipate and avoid them.Being a Scrum Master has given me the tools and flexible structure to lead a novice Agile virtual team to success. We approached a complicated migration with a minimum viable product (MVP) to which we added function through incremental deliveries. Within six months the application was off the CMO’s “most wanted” list! End user productivity and satisfaction soared. We had met the challenge. I will always seek challenges. I love the outdoors. I jog. I garden. I sleep overnight in my car to capture the perfect photograph at dawn. I do whatever it takes. I’m good at it. And, I love doing it.
