I believe it invites the shifts in consciousness so necessary to embrace our evolutionary journey and engage the critical issues facing us in ways that foster dialogue, relationships, compassion and justice. I guide many of ICCD’s programs including Engaging Impasse: Circles of Contemplation and Dialogue®, Transformation in a Time of Uncertainty, and Exercising Contemplative Power. LCWR is the official national organization which represents all the elected leaders of the congregations of women religious in the United States. The LCWR Presidency is a collaborative effort. It consists of a Vice-President, Current President and Past President with each person serving in a rotating manner over 3 years.It was my experience in this position together with my years at NETWORK that shaped my Presidential Address in 2000 and led me to found the Institute for Communal Contemplation and Dialogue with its first major program being Engaging Impasse: Circles of Contemplation and Dialogue.

The IHMs are a vibrant community of women religious. As Vice-president I served on a Leadership Council with 7 other elected leaders. We undertook a major reorganization of our government plan bringing the entire congregation at that time around 800 members into one governance structure.We were committed to collaborative leadership at all levels of our congregational life.My major areas of responsibility were our sponsored educational institutions, our responsible investment committee, our work for peace and justice, our communications and development efforts. We undertook a congregational wide process to determine how to renovate our Motherhouse and Monroe campus. We chose to do the major renovation integrating the principles of sustainability which we felt were in keeping with our charism and mission. For 10 years I served as National Coordinator or Executive Director. Prior to that I was first Researcher from 1977-1979 and then Lobbyist from 1979-1982. We lobbied on significant issues which included budget priorities, human rights, disarmament and arms reduction, job creation, welfare reform and health care. During that time we stablizied the organiation financially and created an educational 501c3 for this registered lobby.
