2017-2020 Returned to early childhood grades to make a difference in providing solid foundations in reading, math, science, social studies, and handwriting. Taught third and first grade, the last grading period of 2020 virtually and on Zoom four days a week.

As a FLVS teacher, I work with my grade level team in developing engaging online curriculum that is taught in real-time online class time sessions and delivered in two, two-hour sessions, two days during the school week. After a K-1 pilot with just a few teachers in 2014-2015, in August 2015, I was chosen to be part of the dozen teachers to launch the groundbreaking K-5 elementary program using all online resources and instruction. Without any marketing, the program has doubled its teaching staff and number of families served.

Throughout my years of professional development , when I worked with about 200 teachers for at least one semester providing one-on-one coaching, I've never just worked with teachers from one school. So this is the year, working at a high poverty, Title I school, with many new teachers and a new principal, I'm looking forward to learning from all the dedicated people who are responsible for making this (in spite of it all) an "A"​ school. I'm excited to be digging deeper into the many coaching roles that will be attached to the gradual release of responsibility (my foundation for all learning) and all that looks and sounds like into today's classrooms where teachers often feel over-evaluated and completely overwhelmed.

With a goal of eventually returning to coaching teachers in classrooms and facilitating professional development, I felt compelled to return to the classroom to experience, first-hand, all the positives and challenges of teaching. I taught first grade both years in first grade.

In 2005, relaunched the HMH grants and funding department. Developed, facilitated,and supported federal fund strategies for sales plans in targeted district and state level opportunities with excellent results in related sales. Managed and supervised federal fund employees and grant expert consults. Created and managed social media content and practical funding websites. During these five years, designed and facilitated virtual and face-to-face presentations/trainings for sales and customers.

Southeast Region: Nine States

Created, managed, and supported all marketing efforts for sales campaigns. Led region in creation and delivery of Brainshark presentations.

National

Developed and implemented Rourke's publishing plan. Created and managed the development of literacy materials to support classroom teachers and students. Trained, scheduled and supported new consultants.

National

2001- 2003 As Director of PD, I managed all aspects of the department including course and workshop content, budget, personnel, and communication. Developed and facilitated national consultant summit for literacy consultants and Rigby's Train the Trainer event,hosting over 300 clients. Authored the PD guide and workshop for Steck Vaughn's Eleemnts of Reading: Fluency. Created an online newsletter of research, articles book reviews, and forums. Presented at the 2003 National Staff Development Conference, now called Learning Forward. Provided in-class coaching to preschool teachers and assistants in Webster County, WV on early childhood literacy--followed coaching with related PD content workshops.1994 - 2001 National Consultant Manager/National ConsultantProvided numerous PD and product workshops. Presented at several national and regional conferences, including IRA and National Reading Recovery. Mentored, coached, and managed full and part-time consultants. Designed highly-effective literacy workshops.
