Riverbend Engineering is a small consulting civil engineering firm specialized in water resources and river restoration projects on rivers, arroyos, wetlands, and irrigation systems throughout New Mexico and southwestern Colorado. Highlights of my responsibilities at Riverbend include: Biology: Water quality and river health assessments—pH, temperature, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, macroinvertebrates, invasive species identification, and threatened and endangered species critical habitat identification.Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Able to process LiDAR and Digital Elevation Models into topographic contours; locate and trim high-resolution aerial imagery, and utilize parcel, utility and other types of GIS data. Writing & Editing: Helped three municipalities secure NM Environment Department’s River Stewardship Program grants. Frequently responsible for creating first drafts, intermediate editing, and final editing, graphics, and layout on nearly all deliverables. This includes proposals (responses to ITB, RFP, IFB, etc.), client contracts, subcontractor agreements, bid specification books (with AIA documents) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, reports, and more. Founded in July 2002, NCS is based on the principles of Natural Capitalism, led by author and renowned speaker L. Hunter Lovins (LHL). Worked with LHL as a volunteer to start NCS when she left Rocky Mountain Institute, and over time served in almost every capacity possible (including EA) for a small Colorado non-profit consulting firm. Some of my work: Sustainability Consultant: Researched and developed content for consulting deliverables for clients large and small. Built content and web site for American Rivers about green infrastructure training (now defunct). Development & Fundraising: Led all fundraising efforts: wrote and oversaw foundation grants, cultivated individual donors, and planned events; and created database(s) to track success. Graphics & Publications: Designed logo. Managed team through writing, editing, graphics, and distribution of newsletters/e-alerts, published articles, proposals, reports, and speech slides. Contract Negotiation & Logistics: Managed all aspects of foreign and domestic speaking engagements, including event planning, including arranging frequent overseas travel.Research & Education: Conducted research to implement climate protection consulting to municipalities and small businesses.
