I worked as a volunteer to prepare green card holders for their US Citizenship exam through one-on-one tutoring sessions in Civics and English.My students worked really hard and I'm happy to say that I had a 100% success rate of them passing their tests and becoming citizens.

I worked for the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) on a project that would centralize housing voucher data into a statewide hub. I wasn't there to design or build a system. I gathered data and requirements from over 100 municipalities, took everything I learned, and packaged it up into an RFP so the Commonwealth could find vendors that could centralize the data. It turns out there are a few of them out there. I left the project after the RFP was complete and I didn't know it at the time but that was the last contract I would have as a corporate technology consultant.

My job was to coordinate internal team members who worked in different departments with several external vendors to create a plan for the system going live. I also worked on a plan to handle quarterly updates to the system.

Sonesta has a lot of hotels but a small corporate team. I was the first business analyst they had and it was an adjustment.I worked with marketing, hotel management, and corporate executives to help redesign their loyalty program. It was spread across three systems and the systems didn't share information with each other very well. My main focus was to make the front-end as easy as possible for guests, hotel workers, and corporate to use.Fun fact: While I was working at Sonesta I took a trip to Peru and by coincidence, I stayed in a Sonesta hotel. I would stay there again. It was a lovely place.

I worked on a few projects at Tufts Health Plan and gained so much industry knowledge that you can ask me just about anything about health insurance claims.I worked on a few projects at THP and my responsibilities were mainly working with users to understand what they wanted in a system, going to the technical team to see if they could build it, and going back to the users to match the business expectations with technical capabilities.I also did a lot of mapping data from one system to another, designing business/technical processes, quality assurance, some training, and basically whatever the team needed at the time.But seriously though, working in healthcare can be rough.

I was the point of contact between the Boston, MA team and a team in Krakow, Poland. I'd get to work at 6 am my time (noon their time) and review the work they'd done that day. Then I'd test their work and update the requirements and the project plan as needed. Finally, I sent my updates to them so they could work on it while I was asleep.Rinse and repeat until my boss left and the new boss did not like my constant championing of agile methodology (as opposed to waterfall) so she let me go.Another fun fact: my agency and I had to chase her down for a week to find out if I was employed or not. I went to work one morning and my building key didn’t work. My logins didn’t work either. Finally, we threatened her with dire consequences for holding me back from filing for unemployment and she confirmed that I did not work there anymore.

I was the business analyst for the operations part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' implementation of the PPACA (Obamacare).I'm not sure how to describe the massive undertaking it was or the seemingly endless moving parts it takes to design and build a healthcare exchange from the ground up.

Corporate Technology Group -Fidelity Profitability and Accounting ITFCAP (Fidelity Cost and Profitability Analytics) SystemThis was a project to develop a reporting application to help internal accounts track expenses from the highest level down to the pens and pencils they bought. I learned a lot on this project, mostly that accounting is not for me.I worked with the client to figure out what they wanted in the system and then write them up as business and functional requirements.I also worked with the quality assurance team and project manager to make sure the entire project team had the informaion they needed to get their parts of the project done.

I was a consultant and held many positions throughout my career. I have been a programmer, tech lead, data analyst, business systems analyst, quality assurance analyst, and business analyst. Most of my clients were in Finance, Hospitality, and Healthcare.
