Communications professional with over 20 years broad-based marketing, advertising and non-profit experience across a range of industries and organizations. Experience in fundraising, event planning, strategy development, communication outreach plan development and implementation, partnership/coalition building on the local and global level.Specific areas of interest include aiding businesses in expanding and communicating global citizenship activities; sustainable development; women empowerment; youth leadership development through access to higher education.Interest in CSR, sustainability and sustainable development arose from 'mine to finger' experience with De Beers and the diamond industry in 2006. Experience involved travel to the diamond producing countries of Sierra Leone, South Africa and Botswana where first hand observations were made on the impact responsible business practices have for communities - and businesses. Current position as Executive Director for the Diamond Empowerment Fund is a continuation of this interest and passion for making a difference in communities where diamonds are sourced, and in helping businesses communicate their good works to their stakeholders including the ultimate stakeholder, the diamond purchasing consumer. Strong believer that effectively communicating businesses triple bottom line commitment will strengthen their reputation, connection with consumers, brand equity, overall position in the marketplace and long-term profitability - 'doing well and doing good is good business'.
