I am a partner and Head of the Employment, Labour & Pension Group in Stikeman Elliott's Toronto office. In addition to litigation and grievance arbitration, I provide advice and opinions on all aspects of human resources management including employment standards, pay equity, human rights, corporate policies and procedures, employment contracts, health and safety, plant closures, collective bargaining negotiations, and certification and unfair labour applications. I also defend companies and their managerial staff who have been charged with offences under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.I provide assistance with labour and employment issues that arise in corporate transactions, insolvencies and restructuring. I conduct specialized and practical in-house supervisory training seminars on such topics as workplace harassment and violence, occupational health and safety due diligence requirements, and enforcing policies and procedures including discipline.
