Long Beach Regional Cal-SOAP seeks to increase the accessibility of post-secondary educational opportunities for underrepresented high school students by providing services related to college preparation, career readiness, financial aid assistance, and academic motivation. Goals and Objectives include:• Increase the availability of information to students about post-secondary education, financial aid, and career opportunities.• Improve students’ access to higher education by raising their achievement levels.• Reduce the duplication of services by coordinating outreach efforts among local school districts, public and private higher education institutions, and community organizations.

• Oversee three federal TRiO SSS grants targeted to improving persistence, academic success, and graduation rates for 700 students who identify as low-income, first-generation to college, or have a disability• Align program services and interventions to meet federal objectives and student learning outcomes• Manage participant identification, selection, and intake/onboarding to ensure retention goals are met

• Aided in the development and coordination of program components in compliance with the U.S. Department of Education regulations for both TRiO SSS and McNair Scholars grant projects• Managed 8-week Summer Research Internship and Symposium; inclusive of staffing, budget and resource allocation, and program evaluation• Provided individualized and group advising related to academic requirements, financial aid/literacy, career and graduate school preparation, and non-cognitive skill building

• Provide direct and holistic on-going services that includes academic, non-cognitive, and general advising to 225+ assigned caseload participants each year• Aid students in five service areas to include academic coaching, tutoring, financial aid, financial literacy, and graduate school preparation

Coordinated the alternate admissions BEACH Pathways Program for first time freshman applicants. BEACH Pathways and BEACH Promise Pathways targets students from low income, traditionally underrepresented, first generation families who demonstrate potential for college success. • Maintained applicant databases and provided targeted communications• Led and delegated tasks at BEACH Pathways committee meetings• Conducted outreach workshops and meetings for individuals, small groups, and at large scale events• General knowledge of CSU/CSULB freshman/transfer admissions requirements and procedures, academic offerings, and student support services.

Provided recruitment, coordination, assessment, classroom tutoring and support, follow up retention services, and transfer success for participants of the Urban Teacher Fellowship (UTF) Program in the Teacher TRAC office.

Recruited, outreached, and engaged 22 California Teacher Pathway (CTP) participants in STEM learning to increase their competency in math and scienceProgram elements included:• Provided training and workshops to support participants in leading STEM learning activities for middle school students in ABC Unified School District and Norwalk-La Mirada School District• Encouraged CTP participants to pursue STEM teaching careers, especially at the K-8 level

Served residents of affordable housing achieve self-sufficiency through access to on-site services in health, education, and social services that included:• Organized specialized youth programs for children ages 5-14 in after school programs at 3 sites to include tutoring, mentoring, and curriculum development• Managed resident service program budget, monitored status of participants, prepared and maintained case management files, as well as promoted positive relations with property management • Engaged and aided senior residents in independent living, including: service referrals, social activities/classes, and community building events
