After two decades working on web projects in the biomedical/public health space, I'm excited to be engaged in a venture focused on putting patients and caregivers in the driver's seat. PALTOWN builds online communities for patients and caregivers affected by serious disease. Building on the successful model of co-founder Erika Brown's first community, COLONTOWN, we are committed to creating safe, authentic spaces for people to exchange information, connect, and find a place where they are truly understood. Web EditorNational Cancer Institute (Nci) Sep 1997 - Dec 1999At this time, NCI, like many large public sector organizations, did not have a unified web presence; the institute instead relied on "boutique" and independent sites run by the various programs. At the Office of Clinical Research Promotion, I developed and managed cancertrials.gov, which provided resources for health professionals and patients about cancer clinical trials. While at NCI, I participated in a number of high-level initiatives surrounding the push to develop a unified, branded web presence (now cancer.gov) for the Institute. This was an exciting time; at the real birth of a new way for organizations to communicate with the outside world!
