Making history in the competitive fashion industry is not new to Philadelphia fashion designer Nancy Volpe Beringer. She earned a record number awards at age 61 for her graduate collection at Drexel University.Most recently, the Conscious Fashion Campaign, an initiative of the Fashion Impact Fund, and in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships and the PVBLIC Foundation, named Nancy as one of ten honorees of women led businesses that support sustainable fashion and will be featured in a mass billboard campaign during NYFW. Her history making ways also include the 2022 Fashion Group International (FGI) Rising Star award for her groundbreaking online platform The Vault by Volpe Beringer. The world’s first-ever luxury accessible resale platform shows that fashion and function can co-exist by offering customizable adaptive options to fit the unique needs of a disabled person. Volpe Beringer believes that “No matter what your ability or disability, you have the same right to use fashion and accessible fashion to express your individuality.”While the pandemic spurred her creation of The Vault by Volpe Beringer, her role as designer also brought recognition and opportunities in the fashion industry. Her red carpet look at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards for Philadelphia Grammy Nominee Rapper Tierra Whack went viral and was one of three looks to be featured in the New York Times. Philadelphia Magazine named Nancy as “Best in Philly Fashion Designer for Artsy Dresses” in their annual “Best in Philly” awards. She made history at age 64 as the “oldest” designer ever to be a contestant on Bravo’s Season 18 Project Runway.
