Mum and You is a start-up that I have been a part of since its inception. It is a company by mothers for mothers. Specifically it is a virtual platform based retail space, specialising in high quality, useful products for babies and mothers. I am predominantly involved with market research for customers and product development .

The Novartis group is one of the largest pharmaceuticals in the world. They accepted me as a marketing trainee for the summer in the department of Multiple Sclerosis. I was working on a 2nd line MS drug called Gilenya. During my stint here a lot of my qualities were called on and improved.I was put in a department where technical knowledge of the product was very important. Therefore, my background in Microbiology & Immunology truly helped me to assimilate & expand my in-depth knowledge of the disease & product at a rapid rate. Working closely not only with the other interns but also with the Medical & Neuroscience department in order to get the work done has done a lot to enhance and improve my teamwork and communication skills. A day on the sales floor with one of the Gilenya delegates has given me an opportunity to improve my skills in interactions with people in an official manner outside the office i.e. being friendly & likeable and at the same time explain the product using only facts without advertisement. I was put in charge of talking to the MS patients association, via teleconference, about an event that Novartis was sponsoring. This has greatly improved my capability and experience in responsibility and assertiveness. My traineeship was almost completely in Spanish, as I was working in the Barcelona office, which greatly helped to further my fluency in the language. I was also trusted to translate presentations and invitations between Spanish and English (as it is a multinational company) which also greatly improved my technical Spanish as well as giving me the ability to work in both languages simultaneously without thought.A large part of my work was to gather data and then create PowerPoint presentations & Excel charts that were then later used in major meetings. This vastly improved my informatics skills as well as my communication skills. It also helped build responsibility.

Eventive organizes mainly corporate events, including conferences, galas and teambuilding retreats. Whilst working there I was involved in brainstorming ideas for events, the execution of events and also helped construct webpages for their events.I worked with the other members of the Eventive group in order to come up with concepts and themes for events, which has helped increase my ability to work as part of a team. I helped set-up banquets and meetings on the day of the event which gave me practice in organizational skills. Helping oversee the setting up of events has also increased my ability to be assertive and decisive as well as helping my ability to improvise in situations that demand it. Internal work within the company, helping set-up event webpages and using the company database has made me especially confident with I.T based work. My entire internship, since it was based in Spain, was conducted in Spanish which has vastly improved my language skills and gives me the ability to work in both English and Spanish.
