Emzini weCode is an education-based startup aimed at improving Computer Science education in Zimbabwe. The company provides introductory computer programming courses and workshops for high school and university students. As the Head Teaching Assistant, my duty is to coordinate with the teacher (the founder) and other TAs to hold office hours and guide students through their learning journey. I have worked with students to solve homework challenges, explain course concepts, and implement projects using Python and exams. Each cohort has a graduating class of 20 students.

The Uber Career Prep program is a year long fellowship aimed at helping students transition to careers in Tech, especially Software Engineering roles. The program consists of workshops, technical interview-based assignments as well as mock interviews. Both these aspects are meant to help students improve their problem solving skills and start thinking like real world Engineers. As a fellow I have found a supportive community in the program, and my knowledge on Software Engineering has grown.

InternHacks is a seven week program, it is a combination of an internship and a hackathon. I worked in a team of six students as the Product Manager. Our team was focused on building a web app, LingoMate, for language learning under the Diversity and Inclusion track. As Product Manager I:- Conducted user research through 25 google surveys and 20+ app reviews to identify user pain points- Collaborated with the Product Designer to build the web app prototype using Figma- Conducted usability testing and used the feedback to collaborate with the Engineering team in iterating the product

Worked for The Daily as a paid reporter through the McCormick Fellowship. I trained for the first 3 months as a Devo (developing reporter) and graduated. My accomplishments and experiences included:- Learning journalism ethics and graduating to a Reporter role- Reporting on the experiences of Southern and Eastern African students on campus during the first quarter of virtual learning- Uplifting voices of small business owners in Evanston- Promoting environmental care with the North Shore Vibe company in Evanston

12-week internship with the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences on a study to research the effects of Parkinson's disease medication on patients' visual and motor skills. Key accomplishments include:- Completing 4 CITI training programs on Human Research Training and was certified as a Research Assistant Intern- Processing data from 30 patients and visualized it using Matlab to show trends and wrote conclusions- Reporting findings from data processing to the rest of the team who will use it in their research papers
