This job was part of a multifaceted project in an international network and aimed at planning, collecting and analysing data for the ISSP modules on Family & Gender and National Identity. Responsibilities ranged from fieldwork management, to data management, and student supervision & teaching. Successfully overcame a problem regarding nationally.

I lectured and tutored to third year Sociology students (250+) at University College Dublin on the course Quantitative Research. In the lectures I covered aspects such as recoding, composite measures, cross tabulations, measures of association and tests of significance, bivariate and multivariate analysis. In the accompanying tutorials I taught SPSS.

The research investigated the roles of the Irish government, the Irish host society, and individual migrants in the integration process. It found that while the first two actors set the scene in which migrants have to operate, the decision to invest in integration has is key in integration outcomes.

I was senior research assistant with MCRI for “Getting On”, a project tendered by the Immigrant Council of Ireland. This project studied the social, cultural, economic and political integration of Chinese, Indian, Lithuanian and Nigerian immigrants in Ireland. In this capacity, I was the main analyst of the quantitative data. I was also responsible for.

I worked on two comparative, European projects studying xenophobia and social movements. My responsibilities included liaising with twelve partner universities in ten European countries, tracking the budget with the university’s bursary’s office, and preparing documents for publication.
