System development hasn't changed fundamentally in the last 30 years. Quite bizarre, in a world that changes so quickly. It’s time for change; which is why we created Harmony; a Digital Services Platform, allowing Spreadsheet Users to develop, run and maintain (complex) IT systems. It's built on top of Google spreadsheets, comes with standard building blocks (why build everything from scratch?) using plain/natural language commands. Gone are the times using keys, complex codes (what does code AB552 mean) or SQL queries. Harmony has developed into a comprehensive expert [knowledge] system with adaptive case management features. Over time we added IoT connectivity, and increased the decision making, workflow management, no-code application development features. Responsible for managing two external project teams and the internal organization for the implementation of a new e-Business platform. One project team had responsible for the delivery of new logistics system based on MS - Dynamics (formerly known as Axapta). The other project team was responsible for the delivery of webSHOP using Microsoft technologies and products such as Commerce Server and Sharepoint. Many complicating factors made this a very cumbersome, energy drawing and time consuming experience.

Program manager, lead analyst and change agent defining & implementing "shared" services for declaration processes in the logistics hubs Port of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Working with Ministry of transport and Customs to optimize the interactions between port authorities and customs with business leading to establishment of port communities. Implementing standard EDI messages for nautical (IMO BERMAN), environmental (IFTDGN and WASDIS) and customs (CUSCAR, INVRPT) declarations . The messages were supported by an application freeing handling/cargo agents from implementing these complex messsages themselves. Leading-by-example approach with a team of very skilled and motivated representatives from various port authorities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam) and Dutch Customs (Amsterdam, Rotterdam). Nurturing a culture in which new approaches could thrive to produce results which would otherwise hard to accomplish. It ultimate result was the establishment on a “neutral” IT body for all information processing of the Dutch ports (currrent www.portbase.com)

Established the company initially selling productivity software for IBM S/38 and AS/400 systems. After 2 years expanded into software productivity tools (for the same markets). Responsible for acquiring customers, thereby competing with established software vendors & consulting firms. Company grew to ~25 people with core team of 6 high level specialists - who together with less experience staff were running 5 - 6 projects annually. Because of our highly acclaimed innovative techniques, such as business event modeling, and CMM 3 level SE practices (at a time when Watts Humphrey was promoting this in the early 90's ) the company was able to establish itself firmly as a front-runner in the business shaping IT market space. It was the first company in The Netherlands to take on client/server computing using the Microsoft NT foundation. Five innovation "wins/awards" were earned in such as workflows and applying latest /state-of-the-art technologies.
