About Naoki Masuda
From Tokyo to New York, I have gained extensive global experience in the fashion industry. Naoki holds a AAS degree in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design and has been in the apparel industry for over 10 years. Absorb knowledge of clothing making in various fields such as design, pattern making, production management, and QC. One notable part of his career was that during his time in New York, the brand he founded had a runway show on the official New York Fashion Week calendar. This has the same meaning as his design ability being recognized in New York. After returning to Japan, he took a break from design and joined Marubeni Fashion Link, which is located in the middle of the fashion business. I was in charge of consulting on the products I purchased with a high fashion import agent. I have often traveled to the United States and Europe during the New York and Paris Fashion Weeks, where I proposed brands to customers, negotiated purchases, provided interpretation, and provided on-site assistance. The main customer in charge is ESTNATION, with annual sales of 100 million yen. After a year of Marubeni, my desire to create things encouraged me to work at Karrimor International. There, he was in charge of the design and development of Karrimor's fashion line, Karrimor Aspire. One year after joining the company, the corona pandemic occurred and Karrimor Aspire was closed. Moved to the inline collection design and development department. In that department, I was responsible for the design and development of 40 models per season, from the development of full-fledged outdoor gear to lifestyle apparel. The development methods used were OEM and global sourcing. Despite the strict cost setting, the design and costs were controlled to ensure that the outdoor functionality was not compromised, and the KPI of a 25% cost rate was adhered to.When developing full-fledged outdoor gear, we test prototypes on actual mountain climbs, record feedback, and make improvements for SMS.After three and a half years of experience at Karrimor International, I joined Jackwolfskin, which was acquired by Callaway Golf Japan, as a developer. Responsible for over 80 types of apparel (including headwear) for one season. The development methods used were OEM and global sourcing, and the global sourcing development involved making full use of PLM and English to develop products. Even though the KPI of a 25% cost rate was affected by the depreciation of the yen, and we only can had one prototype sample, we maintained strict design control without losing brand philosophy.

He keeps doing this process for entire collection.After finishing pattern making, he manages sample making and gathers trimmings, fabric, thread etc.making tech pac for sewer, he discusses with sewer manager to make simple garment construction. At the same time, he have to keep checking previous collection's production to fix some issues, if it happens.Next stage he moves on is sales for exhibition. He does pricing all items and making line sheet.In order to make price, pattern has to be digitized. He making cutter's must for digitizing company. During sales stage, he needs to organize appointment of buyers. When he meets buyer, his attitude is very casual to make good mood at the place. He makes buyer laughing by making joke. This sales skill was developed when he worked in Japan as sales.After finish market, he gathers the sales number, he makes invoices to all the buyers. After they confirmed order, move to prepare for production. Order fabric and trimming based on sales number.
