Teaches eleven seminar-style courses a year to students coming from all walks of life on the areas of social movements and/or racial capitalism. Supports social movement organizations in navigating scholarship in order to get closer to their goals.

Responsible for the scholarship program and grants proposals to support the Brazilian community in the United States and promote bridges between Brazil and the United States in the realms of art, education, and culture.

Developed sponsored fieldwork research for completion of a dissertation on social movements, the Occupy Wall Street movement in specific.Interviewed 40 activists; gathered and organized spread documents and conducted documental analysis; presented research results and facilitated discussion in a roundtable with 25 scholars.

Contributed as the main assistant to research project investigating human rights policies for peasants and rural workers in the United Nations, funded by the National Science Foundation and coordinated by Professor Marc Edelman.Analyzed primary documents; examined specialized literature and summarized key information in bi-weekly reports; organized the project’s internal database, bibliographical references, and correspondence.

Taught 3 sociology-related courses to an average of 120 beginner-level students per semester.Revised syllabi and adapted its content to the students’ career profile -- they would be future dentists, mathematicians, and geographers; challenged students with assignments rooted in writing, reading and critical-thinking skills that were not related to their major degree courses; promoted an improvement in writing, reading, and critical-thinking skills; encouraged a positive perception of social sciences by presenting its contribution to the students’ prospect careers, a very successful strategy that resulted in great evaluations by the end of the semester.

Taught Sociology to more than 90 students from a poor, high-risk metropolitan area. Adapted the state curriculum with contemporary topics to address students’ educational gaps and interests; coached 10 students toward college degree paths by providing information about universities, application processes, low-cost preparatory classes and through one-on-one meetings.
