Technical leadership provided in designing scale up plans for Special Care Newborn Units , Kangaroo Mother Care, national plan of action for Adolescent Health Strategy 2017-2030, development of WASH in Health strategy and roll out of Maternal and Perinatal Deaths Review and Response. * Technical support provided to state government for developing special plans for accelerating Routine Immunization coverage through capacity building, mobilizing donor funding for supportive supervision and system strengthening.* Successfully demonstrated Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses (IMNCI) strategy in two districts and advocated for its state scale up, leveraging NRHM funds. SNCU initiated in one integrated district. Introduced standard treatment protocols for the management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and successfully demonstrated NRCs in UNICEF supported districts and advocated for statewide scale up with Government resources. * Facilitated statewide roll out of Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) trainings, operationalization of FRUs and carried out rapid assessment on barriers and enablers for institutional deliveries, which has guided government actions to improve institutional deliveries.* Maternal And Perinatal Death Inquiry and Response (MAPEDIR) was piloted in two UNICEF integrated districts and using systematically analyzed data, advocated for system strengthening activities like revitalization of sub health centers, operationalization of FRUs, promotion of institutional deliveries, establishment of emergency obstetric referral transport mechanisms etc. Supported documentation of “MAPEDIR - Empowering communities to avert maternal Deaths in India” which was published by UNICEF India during 2007.

• Programme development and technical support: Supported the government and partners to develop micro plans for Pulse Polio, mop up and routine immunization, identifying high risk and low coverage areas. Strengthened partnership with private sector, enhanced capacities field staff, facilitated structured programme review mechanisms and established coordination/monitoring systems to contain polio transmission and RI coverage also showed improvement by 11 % in a year period.• Advisory services : Participated in a national UIP review and assessed immunization coverage levels and reasons for low coverage, collaborating with other development partners. Provided technical advice and contributed to policy discussions and agenda setting to redesign and strengthen health systems for universal health coverage with focus on RI.• Programme monitoring : Conducted Monitoring and Validation exercise for RCH programme in Medak district of Andra Pradesh during February 2005. This exercise has helped in assessing the progress and determine required action/interventions to achieve results.• Successfully represented UNICEF in Tsunami Emergency response in Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, during 2005 and played a key role in humanitarian assistance as well in restoration of health services following emergency.
