This is Dr. Narayan Sahoo, Retired Professor and Head of the Department of Odia Language & Literature at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.I started my journey as a volunteer in the Sarvodaya movement in 1972. I even have worked in OXFAM as a volunteer in Ranchi having good experience in the smallpox eradication program in Bihar. Having good expertise in relief work operations throughout Odisha, I volunteered my service in relief operations during pandemic periods like drought, cyclone, fraud, etc.During my tribal visit to Keonjhar ( Odisha ) for the Yaws eradication program, I even have served for the benefit of the North residents of our state. In the early 70s, due to my eagerness to serve people I got myself indulged in a minor irrigation project Champei & community development project in Banspal Block of Keonjhar district. Due to my quality volunteer experience, I was able to grab an opportunity for higher study at Keonjhar College privately.I the late 70's I moved on from Keonjhar and served Sarvodaya, Cuttack(1976). Living in Cuttack, I got my graduation completed from Christ College with financial help from Mother Ramadevi. I rendered my services in social activities under the patronage of the Sarvodaya Relief Committee and the Indian Cancer Society.After completing my M.A from Utkal University (1981) with the financial support of Kalinga Foundation Trust and Ganga Ben Trust, Gujarat, I did my M.Phil at Ravenshaw College.From 1984-88 I served for media giants Pragatibadi, Dharitri, and Sambad. After gaining some journalism experience, I approached for a Lecturership in Odia at OUAT, Bbsr (which was an Adhoc service).I applied for a Lecturership in the Directorate of correspondence courses at Utkal University and got selected. Serving there as a lecturer and senior lecturer, I got transferred to the P.G. Department of Odia (2000). Here I got my readership and professorship and retired as H.O.D in Odia (2015). After which, due to my to excellence in service I offered with emeritus fellowship for 2 years (2015-17) in the field of Theatre. That me to get a senior fellowship under CCRT, New Delhi (till 2019).Now I serve as an expert in various fields of Literature of State and Central Universities and confidential services.
