The IBM Extreme Blue program aims at getting the top talent from the nation’s best Universities and then put them together in teams to solve an existing business problem for a real world client.During this time, I had the opportunity to project manage a Proof of Concept (PoC) mobile application platform development in an IoT context for a European Telecommunications giant from the ground up. The role involved implementing agile developmental methodologies, liaising with stakeholders and provide solutions to the client’s business problem both from a consulting and an implementation standpoint. For the period of the internship, I evaluated the client’s business opportunity and market presence, worked with developers to define the scope of application from scratch, created weekly progress presentations to clients. In closing, I was able to create and manage the build of a fully functional IoT Android mobile app PoC that will help the client completely disrupt the industry. It was highly appreciated by the board and sparked a conversation on how to convert this into a fully functional consumer-grade mobile application. Additionally, I put together a Business White Paper detailing all the features of the application, technologies used, implementation procedure, relevant short and long term strategic recommendations and their business implications for the client’s management.

Manage 'Transition Buddy's (student helpers) and ensure that they get all the resources they need to be able to help the group of undergraduates effectively. Report the progress of transition buddies, collect FAQ, summarise and report it to the manager so that it can be made sure the information is more accessible. Proactively seek new ways to improve the entire and implement it first hand.During my time, I Increased efficiencies of the 'Transition Buddy's and consequently overall student satisfaction by over 60% by introducing communication by social media websites and Skype video calls rather than e-mail. In addition, I took initiative to hold regular meetings to talk to the ‘Buddy's about their progress and reported it to the manager and helped to set up a F.A.Q page in the University website to help new students.

Student Helper for a group of first year undergraduates with any queries, University related or not. Conduct bi-monthly meetings for the 3 months to ensure that all aspects of University and University life are covered. Maintain an e-mail thread and a social media presence so that I am accessible to any and all students that need any support.As a Transition Buddy, I increased my confidence in dealing with people and their issues and enhanced my communication skills. I also constantly looked for better ways to connect with students and made suggestions to the Transition Buddy leader.
