• Secured €1.25 million of funding under Horizon 2020 for the TeacHy innovation project–A 36-month project aimed at creating a hydrogen and fuel cell (HFC) technology blended MSc course to be run across Europe. • TeacHy project coordinator responsible for managing the activities of a large European multidisciplinary consortium of HFC experts (12 universities from 11 countries) to create an MSc course that is delivered partly online via Canvas and face-to-face currently generating £400k in tuition fees annually.• Produced a Policy Paper with UCL and Imperial on the role of HFC technology in delivering energy security for the UK. This helped to secure £280k of UK Government funding to develop an HFC-themed e-learning course.• Work package leader on the €1.4 million EU-funded KnowHy project aimed at developing an HFC technology training course for technicians across Europe which has been used by AVL and Northern Regional College to train their staff. Responsibilities included managing a team of European HFC experts to develop course content.• Published a paper in Energy Policy presenting the role of hydrogen technology in providing UK energy security.• Designed and delivered lectures on an MSc module titled ‘Introduction to Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technologies’ lecturing topics on ‘Hydrogen Technology’, ‘Overview of Hydrogen Safety Aspects’ and ‘Hydrogen Handling’.

PhD with integrated study in Hydrogen, Fuel Cells and their Applications• Thesis title: Effects of Palladium Thin Films on the Hydrogen Permeability of Pd-Cu Alloy Membranes• Completed a study on modifying the surface composition of Pd Cu alloy membranes using magnetron sputtering which resulted in a 57% increase in hydrogen transport.• Recommissioned and managed an experimental rig that tested membrane performance at high hydrogen pressures and elevated temperatures.• Performed regular non-destructive testing on the rig including leak testing and visual inspections.• This research resulted in four publications in high-impact factor journals.• Led an innovation project with Johnson Matthey to characterise Pt-Pd alloy samples using X ray diffraction.• Won two travel grants from Armourers & Brasiers (£900) and IOM3 (£250) to fund a trip to attend the Metal Hydrogen Symposium 2012 in Kyoto, Japan.
