In December 2011, I quit my six-figure investment banking career in the City of London, feeling a lack of purpose and energy. I spent the next years reinventing myself professionally, while project managing a smallish real estate development in South London, converting my house into four flats. I noticed two fundamental problems in the startup ecosystem - The Unicorn definition of success is limited and flawed. If a company is valued at a billion Euros but the people are unhappy and unhealthy and the society is being damaged in the process of growing - is that really success? I believe not. Success must include the wellbeing of teams, value to society and profitability.
