Awarded a grant by Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna under Marco Polo University Programme for secondment with Professor Ulf Olofsson from Tribology, Department of Machine Design. Worked under his supervision with wheel-rail contact mechanism and Laser Cladding to reduce PM emissions.

The company operates in the field of developing systems and processing for third parties with laser technologies, in particular surface hardening (laser hardening), coatings using metal powders (laser cladding) and laser welding.The main activities involve research, contacting new customers and presenting new process solutions. Management of the customer portfolio from a technical/commercial point of view. Analysis of technical-production needs, process tests, co-design of robotic systems (ABB platform) based on customer specifications, after-sales assistance of already installed systems, and staff training in the use of technologies. Constant collaboration with partner companies, universities and national and international research centres aimed to improve the offer continuously.

I assisted customers with their enquiries, working on the tills, money handling, and performing various tasks using PDT, such as price checking, shelf monitoring and fast filling. As part of the job, I passed the e-learning modules, which gave me a deep understanding of working with customers. This role has polished my skills such as time management, attentiveness, product knowledge and persuasion.

Apart from ensuring the safety of customers, staff and stock, the role also involved maintaining high customer service standards. Daily seal checks, completion of product protection sheets and operating CCTV and radios were the central part of the role. I was awarded a specialist retail training certificate upon completion of the course as part of the job. As part of a third company, I worked in different stores at Tesco, Waitrose and Boots. This work enhanced my teamwork skills and helped me to work effectively with senior management.

The role involved ensuring a pleasant visit of customers to the store and working with colleagues to maintain food availability. I have completed health and safety and customer service modules as part of the job. This role has developed my skills in keeping standards high under strict time constraints.
