• Conducted periodic exploratory studies and data collection of Afghan refugee children’s transition to North America's education systems from admission to graduation (in the K-12 environment)• Provided technical support to schools and colleges to ensure psychosocial development, integration, and cultural assimilation of the Afghan refugee children • Promoted a culture of storytelling among Afghan refugee populations in the North Americas to foster mutual understanding, coexistence, and integration among refugees and their host communities mainly through schools and colleges • Conducted guest lecturing in different community organizations/events, at schools and universities to promote cultural awareness among students from host communities and foster public/citizen diplomacy • Led the development of a “phrasebook in Farsi/Dari” to promote language learning among host communities • Ensured extensive exposure of the Afghan refugee children to civic education and foster deradicalization among this sub-population• Periodically engage with the Afghan diaspora organizations to paint and promote the picture of “Afghanistan one never saw” with the goal of fostering public and citizens diplomacy

• Leads and advises the Project Team on planning and strategizing the implementation of the activities, with a view to optimizing a proper consideration and understanding of local contexts;• Supervises the work of contracted local partners in Herat and Nangarhar, in close collaboration with local project coordinators, towards the achievement of the expected results;• Advises the Project Team on coordinating with the Afghan Government, in order to ensure smooth communication and proper endorsement from the involved authorities, at both local and central levels;• Liaises directly with the relevant Afghan authorities in order to ensure the Project’s alignment with the Government’s strategy and priorities in culture/social reintegration in Afghanistan, as well as with the overall objectives of the NPCE, especially under Thematic Area n. 1 – Right to Culture;• Coordinates the organization of periodical informative and consultative events with local counterparts, as required for ensuring proper participation of both targeted groups and host communities in the Project’s activities and progressive achievements;• Monitores the Project’s performances vis-a-vis the Afghan Government and other local stakeholders for ensuring its effectiveness and response to local needs and expectations, through the organization of meetings and/or the preparation of analytical periodic reports, briefings, and other documents, as required;• Develops collaboration with major and local media groups in Afghanistan to facilitate and assist the Project’s awareness-raising activities, with a focus on culture/social reintegration in Afghanistan;• Contributes to the design and preparation of new projects/programs related to culture/social reintegration in Afghanistan, as appropriate and required.

• Led and engaged key personnel and stakeholders to formulate the Institute’s Five-Year Strategic Plan. The new five-year strategic vision resulted in: (i) Creation and institutionalization of the Civil Service Center of Excellence; (ii) Enhancement and revision existing Division of Academic Affairs; and (iii) Establishment and contextualization of the Public Affairs Innovation Lab. • Led and provided subject matter expert inputs in the formulation of the first-ever National Civil Servant Training Policy – aimed at professionalizing 8000 Civil Servants in Afghanistan. • Designed and developed the Civil Service Performance Index - a multi-pronged analytical framework and indicators to gauge institutional capacity and rank order civil service performance across Afghanistan’s government.

• Identified, analyzed and categorized $13.2 million underspent US Embassy grant at AUAF and repurposed it under a new proposal to the Embassy. The US Embassy granted a total of 120 scholarships to AUAF (Academy, Undergraduate & MBA). • Mobilized funds and drafted gift/grant agreements, memorandum of understanding and letters of agreement between AUAF and respective grantors. • Established Yalda Hakim Scholarship Fund. The fund supports the undergraduate education of 12 female students at AUAF. • Developed and enhanced existing scholarship management system to gather information on the recipients of the scholarships, track and manage the scholarship funds and track scholars’ progress and report to donors. • Developed concept notes and grant proposals to mobilize funds from private donors and grantors.

• Participated in division-wide data analysis, assessment, strategic planning, and budget development. • Assisted in the development of 2018 – 2023 Western Michigan University’s Strategic Plan. • Conducted academic program reviews to guide the development of academic programs on a continuous basis. • Proposed programmatic recommendations on the enhancement of SITA Scholars Program at Western Michigan University. • Facilitated assessment activities including survey administration, data analysis, and use of assessment results.

• Conducted an analysis of entry-level job/internship postings to identify the most in-demand skills and competencies and Explored the most common skills and competencies expected of today’s college graduates. • Mapped findings of the analysis into the curriculum at Mason and presented findings of the analysis to the senior academic leadership at Mason.

• Identified key programmatic areas of intervention in three Kabul-based public universities and provincial ones. This resulted in the establishment of eight master degree programs in both Kabul-based and provincial universities. • Led and coordinated programmatic efforts with project partners (a consortium of five organization) and select partner universities for continuous program improvement. • Prepared implementation plans in-line with the strategic goals set out in the project cooperative agreement and Higher Education Strategic Plan. • Established, led and managed international university partnerships and exchange programs for the newly established graduate degrees • Designed and conducted regular summative and formative assessments in-line with Afghanistan Higher Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation Standards to ensure the quality of instruction and delivery under the eight programs. • Provided technical advice to the program committees to develop systems and processes (admission – graduation) for the eight degrees. • Attended donor coordination meetings at the Ministry of Higher Education and discussed mutual areas of interest and collaboration among different donors and their implementing agencies.

• Coordinated the organization of consultative workshops and committee meetings with steering committees and advisory boards on an ad hoc basis to ensure the involvement of key program stakeholders in the project activities. • Wrote weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports, success stories, lesson learned, media advisories and press releases. • Developed Memorandum of Understanding, Letters of Agreement, drafted press releases, media advisories, success stories, monthly, quarterly and annual reports. • Provided technical assistance as a volunteer member with graduate degrees steering committees to develop curriculum, course syllabi and readings for the newly established degrees. • Led and designed Afghan Higher Education Administrators’ Exposure Visit to Thailand on Curriculum Development, Teaching, Learning and Instructional Design • Contributed to the design of a regular assessment of the instruction method/design to ensure teaching and learning quality. • Led and attended seminars, conferences and exposure visits nationally and regionally.
