Worked as the Distillate blender for Suncor Energy. I started off as an intern for production control, but there was an opening for the distillate blender position and I quickly jumped into the role. I am responsible for the blending of diesel and jet fuel in the refinery (in less than three months blended 2.7 million Barrels of #2 ULSD and 1.1 million Barrels of jet fuel ~$300 million. This involves constantly adapting to ever changing situations in the refinery, such as a conductivity issues, lack of biodiesel, SOL alerts, etc, and leveraging my resources to the best of my ability to balance profit and economic efficiency, when creating blend plans. Every day I have a a handful of meetings to make sure our refinery is running at the optimal level and have to communicate any issues that are present on a day to day basis (such as a rate reduction caused by inclement weather) and the steps to overcome the issues to get back on target.

The Academy of Physics and Technology is an engineering focused program at San Rafael High School spanning three years. The students are engaged in real-world problem solving as they design, construct and test models for a diverse number of applications ranging from rocketry to robotics.The curricular program consists of two courses per year. These courses integrate the investigation of scientific models with the career technical practices of engineering design and fabrication. Active learning is the central curricular philosophy of the Academy. Students construct their knowledge by making observations, building models to describe physical phenomena, and then devise solutions to various engineering problems.During each quarter, students work towards the completion of a major project.
