Am I treating nature the right way? Would my children be happy about it? Not just the ones in my home, but for all the children of this planet's future. I am just a moderately educated man from a small town with aspirations to live a good life. Why bother about things beyond my comfort zone?I wanted to put my skills to better use. I wanted to spend my time positively on this planet's beautiful ecosystem. I got excited about the role of Business in ensuring a sustainable future. Can the skills I learned during my earlier 10 years of Corporate career be used to make life better for the community which raised me back home?With these questions and hope, I went back to my native in South India. I started YellowBag Foundation, a social enterprise in 2014. Promoting reusable cloth bags became my job. The single-room house of women from disadvantaged communities became my office. Their tailoring machines became my gadget. After eight years of fair work, our sustainably produced cotton cloth bags have protected the planet from at least 100Mn plastic bags. We have provided employment for 250+ women; Worked with 1200+ customers across the world and have been quoted by the media two dozen times.Our tailoring centers employ women from vulnerable backgrounds. Our women tailoring network can make about one lakh cloth bags a month from safe working conditions. We can manufacture ethical, fair trade certified, Organic cotton GOTS certified, GRS- Global recycled standard based cloth bags, jute bags, other sustainable fabric bags, and related products. Our bags are used as promotional bags in Tedx talks, kits in international conferences, FairTrade India gifts, packaging at big-box retail shops, sustainable fashion boutiques, and birthday parties.We invite brands across the world to be part of this story.
