• The key liaison between the SDNPA and the "host authorities" (Chichester District Council, East Hampshire District Council, Horsham District Council Lewes-Eastbourne and Winchester City Council) who carry out planning.
• monitoring performance of the host authorities;
• guiding planning officers on the determination of planning applications, and well as overseeing enforcement and appeals;
• the identification of significant applications and related matters to be called-in for determination in-house by the SDNPA;
• providing consultation responses on significant development proposals affecting the setting of the National Park;
• liaising with other stakeholders and interested parties (eg landowners and parish councils) regarding planning related issues;

Responsible for:- Responding to consultations on planning applications, carrying out site visits, liaising with applicants, local authority officers, and interested parties. - Preparing and taking reports to Committee.- Preparing appeals submissions, representing the SDJC and shadow SDNPA at appeals.- Representing the SDJC and Shadow SDNPA at working.
