The key liaison between the SDNPA and the "host authorities" (Chichester District Council, East Hampshire District Council, Horsham District Council Lewes-Eastbourne and Winchester City Council) who carry out planning work on behalf of the SDNPA. Work includes:• monitoring performance of the host authorities;• guiding planning officers on the determination of planning applications, and well as overseeing enforcement and appeals;• the identification of significant applications and related matters to be called-in for determination in-house by the SDNPA;• providing consultation responses on significant development proposals affecting the setting of the National Park;• liaising with other stakeholders and interested parties (eg landowners and parish councils) regarding planning related issues; • handling a small caseload of planning applications.

Responsible for:- Responding to consultations on planning applications, carrying out site visits, liaising with applicants, local authority officers, and interested parties. - Preparing and taking reports to Committee.- Preparing appeals submissions, representing the SDJC and shadow SDNPA at appeals.- Representing the SDJC and Shadow SDNPA at working groups, committees, etc.- Representing the SDJC and Shadow SDNPA at South East Plan EIP.- During this time I also secured over £3.5 million in funding for the burying of overhead power lines in sensitive landscapes. Other work included input into Conservation Area Appraisals and other historic environment work such as nominating buildings for listing.From 2010-2011, I was seconded to the shadow South Downs National Park Authority, where I took on the role of Planning Manager.
