My first company, Juhudi Kilimo, started as an idea to provide small farmers in Kenya with access to financing, enabling them to reinvest in their business. Over the course of 6 years, I raised $22M+ in debt and equity, expanded to 20 field offices, and contributed to $30M+ in life-changing loans for 50K+ people. Juhudi Kilimo was the first-ever Certified B-Corporation in Africa and featured in CIO Magazine’s Top 100 list. As Co-founder & CEO of Leaf Global Fintech, I deployed a blockchain-backed digital wallet across 10 African countries to help refugees and migrants to protect and move assets during flight. Leaf was recognized in 2018 at South by Southwest (SXSW), the National Science Foundation, Techstars, the United Nations, and The Vatican. Leaf was acquired in 2022 by IDT Corporation (NYSE: IDT), a global provider of fintech, cloud, and traditional communications services.
