In this position I reported directly to the CEO and was responsible for managing the Society’s communication and fundraising channels, including its website, social media, media, appeals and events. A key focus of this position was working with external agencies and collaborating with national counterparts to develop, plan and deliver national fundraising appeals. The role was also responsible for managing partner relationships, maintaining the CRM donor database and producing reports.This role provided me with growth and understanding of the NFP sector and I am grateful to have worked alongside those who contribute daily, whether a member, volunteer or staff, to the Society’s vision and mission in assisting those in our community who are in need of a helping hand.

My role as the Events and Logistics Support Officer was to coordinate and support the planning, delivery and evaluation of Branch functions and events and related logistics, provide advice to the Events and Logistics Senior Coordinator to ensure optimisation of event management opportunities. This position undertook a range of event coordination activities including sourcing of venues both within the university and external venue options such as hotels and other event spaces, liaise with and book suppliers, preparation of promotional items and materials, preparation of event communications, report appropriately and effectively to the Marketing and Communications Engagement Manager, work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, Shared Services Marketing and Communications Unit and the Legal and Risk Branch to ensure all activities are compliant with the University’s policies and guidelines and statutory requirements.Event experience include:• First year cohort welcome event – 300 students• Open Day – around 14,000 potential future students, families and friends• Individual school anniversaries and milestones – Psychology 60th Celebration, Nursing 21st Birthday • Science Alive – Adelaide Showground attracting an audience of around 30,000• Declaration Ceremony – Medical – 800 students, family and friendsIn this role I feel fortunate to have developed an understanding and appreciation for the work of professors and researchers and the commitment to the work they do to which the people in our community are fortunate beneficiaries.
