As an attorney advisor in the Water Enforcement Division of the Office of Civil Enforcement at EPA Headquarters, my role focuses on ensuring national consistency in water enforcement matters across the 10 regions. Since the Supreme Court decision in Sackett v. EPA in May 2023, I have worked primarily on CWA 404 enforcement matters, working to ensure consistency in interpretation and implementation of the decision across the country.I am also gaining experience in enforcement of the Safe Drinking Water Act, with an emphasis on enforcement in Indian Country, to ensure that Tribal communities have access to safe drinking water. Finally, I am developing experience in enforcement of the Clean Water Act against municipalities facing issues with combined sewer overflows, which allow untreated sewage to enter city waterways.

At EIP, I did both litigation and policy work. Representing riverkeeper organizations, I litigated citizen suits against companies operating in violation of the Clean Water Act or Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and polluting the Chesapeake Bay. My policy work focused on pushing to strengthen state wastewater and stormwater permits and to improve transparency and efficiency in state environmental agency operation and enforcement.

At Vorys, I was an associate in the Cleveland office in the litigation group with additional experience in environmental law. My litigation practice focused on commercial litigation involving class actions, breach of contract disputes, and employment-related matters. In my capacity as a litigator, I drafted pleadings, discovery requests, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements for matters in state and federal court, and managed document review and production, assisted with deposition preparation, and participated in settlement negotiations. As a member of the environmental subgroup, I assisted with environmental compliance issues arising under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Water Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, Clean Air Act, as well as state environmental statutes. Additionally, I worked on transactions requiring environmental analyses, contributing complex research to environmental due diligence analyses for buying and selling assets. I also researched potential effects of recent environmental litigation and potential regulations on sewer district and oil and gas industry clients.

Assisted 1L students in Legal Research & Writing class, graded research assignments, and conducted moot sessions for students’ advocacy memoranda.
